Scenic View Restaurant thanks all of our faithful customers and Bloomingtonians who voted for us (we were definitely a Cinderella)! We are also selling tickets to the event at the restaurant for $25 (cash only).

Come join us for Community Kitchen's 4th annual Bloomington Chefs’ Challenge this upcoming Labor Day weekend!! Based on television’s popular Iron Chef, this culinary event will feature three local chefs who will have one hour to prepare a winning dish from a pantry of ingredients. A “mystery ingredient” will be revealed right before the competition begins. BCAT film crews will show close-ups of the fast-paced action on the theater's big screen. Emcees will update the audience as the competition heats up and the celebrity judges will pick the top dish. Two chefs will compete against defending 2009 winner Dave Tallent of Restaurant Tallent (including Scenic Views’s own Thomas Dempsey!). Vote for your favorite by emailing to chefchallenge@yahoo.com . “Bistro” seats available for $100, which include an up-close view of the competition and a sampling of each dish prepared by the chefs. Enter the lottery to purchase Bistro tickets by emailing chefchallenge@yahoo.com now. A cash bar and hors d`oeuvres will also be available.

Chef Thomas Dempsey cooks at the Scenic View Restaurant on Ind. 446 near Lake Monroe. At the restaurant, Dempsey prepares casual fare with creative ingredients. Dempsey is ready to cook with whatever the secret ingredient may be, and is very excited about being chosen and looks forward to the competition.”

"I went [to The View] in March after one of those annoying where-do-you-want to-eat discussions. For Bloomington standards, this place is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!". I had the smoked salmon linguine-$14. and my dining partner sampled the fish tacos-$9, plus we split an appetizer of calamari. I know, I know, "fish in Indiana?, ew!" but regardless the fish was really dang good. We have also patronized this place for the weekend brunch. I had the Peaches with Rum sauce Crepe Du Jour with a mimosa which was amazing. Great bacon too. Prices were very fair for the quality of the food and portion size."

"A friend and I decided to drive out to "The View" this past Saturday and we were pleasantly surprised. Apparently this place is very new and you can tell because everything is sparkling clean."

"A jazz band of rather hot dudes was playing for a portion of the evening. The music wasn't too loud though, so you could comfortably talk. Overall, we had a great evening and look forward to returning."

"The outdoor seating area is fabulous, as per their name. You have a nice view of Lake Monroe with plenty of space to spread out. Dogs seemed to be welcome in the outdoor area as well."
